Today saw Hampden Boys Club return to League action after the Christmas break. Due to extreme weather conditions the match was moved from Weirs Park to Toryglen Football Centre to combat Weirs flooded pitch.

The boys seemed to have comeback fresh and raring to go and came straight out of the blocks with an early goal from returning from Injury Leroy Smith. Having not played for over a month it was great to see Leroy back in the Hampden red and get himself on the score sheet.

Battling terrible weather conditions Hampden players played some lovely football all the while sporting a new tactical formation. Wonder strikes from Jack and Niall along with a well executed penalty from Shay saw the boys come in at the break 4-0 goals up.

Half Time : Hampden BC 4-0 Summerston BC

A shortened half time team talk to allow the game to resume as quick as possible due to the heavy rain saw all subs being used at half time by Hampden and the fresh legs certainly helped extend their lead.

Great play down the right hand side saw sub Deco get in behind the Summerston defence and slot the ball past their goalkeeper. It was the first of three goals for Deco in the second half who by the end of the game joined Niall on a hat trick.

With the three points now looking secured Shay moved further forward in search of his second goal of the game. It didn’t take long for him to use his power and strength to skip past the Summerston defence and secure his second goal.

Greg returned to the pitch after playing the first half and finished the goals off with a well executed finish.

Unfortunately the wet and wild weather had really kicked in now and after a chat between both managers and the referee it was agreed to call the match 15 minutes early.

Overall the Hampden boys strength and flair proved too much for the opposition and the game finished 11-0 to Hampden with all 3 points in the bag.
