Glenvale leave it late against Airdrieonians

The final 16 Scottish Youth FA Cup Game kicked off at 1:15 pm at Ferguslie Park.
A scrappy start with both teams trying to play a passing game. Both teams full of determination brought the talent out in each player on the pitch.
Good attacking play from Glenvale with Sam Walters who crossed the ball neatly in to Aidan McLaughlin who narrowly missed out on scoring as he hit the outside of the post.
Constant strong defending from Liam McMenemy kept Airdrieonians from scoring, keeping the score equal. David McNair joined Liam McMenemy in the fantastic defending, making it almost impossible for Aidrieonians to get a shot on target.
Midfield were kept on their feet with good running from Andrew McColl. McColl kept the game alive, opening a window of opportunity for the Glenvale boys.
A fantastic long range shot from McNair put Glenvale one step closer to scoring but were unfortunate when the Aidrieonians keeper caught the ball neatly in his hands.
Great play from Gregor McFadzean in midfield as he skipped by three Aidrieonians players, completed a through ball to Kyle McLachlin who was just a step away from catching the ball.

Fraser Lee and Declan Curran are substituted on to mix up the game.
The first yellow card of the game was given to Anton Calderwood after fouling an Airdrieonian player just on the edge of the box, giving away a free kick. This came to the Glenvale boys advantage as the strong Glenvale wall successfully defended and cleared the ball out of the danger zone.
McNair kept up his good play throughout the second half, keeping the Glenvale boys one step ahead.
A good cross from Curran landed nicely at McLachlin's feet who shot narrowly glided over the crossbar.
Curran continued his great play as he skipped by Aidrieonian players in centre, unfortunately losing the ball.
A foul on Glenvale, gave them the opportunity to go ahead. McMenemy stepped up to the ball, tension building... GOALLLLL!! McMenemy's incredible free kick straight into top corner put the Glenvale boys 1-0 up.
Great play from McColl resulted in another near miss for the Glenvale boys.
Corner from Curran met Gregor McFadzean who volleyed the ball, resulting in the Aidrieonians keeper pulling off a good save.
Good consistent keeping from Oscar in goals kept the Glenvale boys in the lead.
Sean Borland kept up his excellent strong play, keeping the ball alive in midfield.
As the last ten minutes came, the boys became more determined than ever. Great running from Fraser Lee who pulled off a great ball into the box, which was defended successfully by the Airdrieonian boys.
McColl kept up his great play as he pulled off a great shot from edge of the box which glided over the crossbar.
A great pass from Borland to McColl resulted in yet another chance for the Glenvale boys but just missed out as ball bounces back off the bar.
Curran then pulls off a great twenty five yard shot which just misses the back of the net.
The last 2 minutes came where McNair's defending excelled. Anton Calderwood helped the defence with his strong challenges.
The final whistle blew, 1-0 to the Glenvale boys, putting them through to the final 8 of the Scottish Youth FA Cup.
The Glenvale fans and coaches left smiling as the boys pulled off yet another fantastic performance.
