It was a mild day at Petershill Park as Rangers Girls defeated Glasgow City 5-0 in the top of the table clash in the Megan Sneddon league. Rangers found themselves four up after ten minutes following a brace from Erin Wishart, a header by Alex Middleton and another goal by Sarah Robertson. However, after half time Glasgow City began to put pressure on Rangers, Brogan Hay saw her free kick from twenty-five yards crash against the bar. The match was wrapped up fifteen minutes from time after a stunning volley from Robertson which consolidated Rangers’ place at the top of the table and maintained their 100% record.
The match was only two minutes old when Rangers opened the scoring, tricky winger Dana Baird weaved her way out of pressure on the left and provided a low cross to Erin Wishart who slotted the ball into the goal from inside the box.
One minute later Rangers were two up. A corner was floated into the six yard box and Alex Middleton rose above everyone to fire her header into the net.
In the fifth minute it was three. Once again, Baird was lively on the left and provided another low cross which was finished by Sarah Robertson in the box – this goal was a carbon copy of the first!
Five minutes later Wishart added a second goal to her name. Defender Kayleigh Docherty played a high through ball, which evaded the City defence, to Wishart who chipped Erin Clachers in goal as she came out to try and challenge for the ball.
Twenty minutes in and Rangers almost had number five, Baird hit a free kick from thirty yards out that looked destined for goal but Clachers made a fantastic low save to deny the winger.
The rest of the half became very scrappy and no other chances were created, City began to settle into the game after being stunned by a Rangers master class in the first ten minutes.

It was Glasgow City who came out the strongest after the half time break. Ten minutes into the half Brogan Hay used her pace to break free from the Rangers defence and unleash a shot towards goal but her attempt was held by Jordyn Elliot in the Rangers goal.
On the sixty-fifth minute Wishart almost had her hat-trick, she found herself in a pocket of space at the edge of the box but her effort crept wide of the goal.
Glasgow City almost pulled a goal back twenty minutes from time, Hay fired a free kick from twenty-five yards out which smacked the bar and went over for a goal kick. It only had to be a few inches lower and it would’ve been in!
Rangers then sealed the game fifteen minutes before the end of the match. A free kick was launched into the back post where Robertson was on hand to volley home from six yards out.
The match then ended and Rangers were victorious. After a crazy first ten minutes the match settled down and both sides were pretty much even for the majority of the match. Rangers deserved the win though and they showed their quality today.
