With the game about the get underway the unfortunate Scottish weather added an extra dimension for the players to consider due to the now wetter surface.
But it didn't cause any difficulty for Sarah Robertson of Rangers who early on created a promising chance. Her low cross was fired into the box but failed to find the feet of her teammates.
Not long after Robertson was involved again, playing the ball out wide to Chantelle Brown. Brown's cross was cleared but only onto the edge of the box, where it was played back towards goal oncemore. This time the ball found its way to number nine, Kirsty Howat who brought it down well before slotting it into the bottom left hand corner.
Glasgow responded brightly and were soon on the attack. The ball was played through the Rangers defence by Kodie Hay finding the feet of Jamie Lee Dearie. She went one on one with Jordan Elliott in the Rangers goal but couldn't really connect with the shot and in the end it was easy for Elliott to gather.
Rangers almost bagged a second before half time. Kirsty Howat took advantage of a short pass but thankfully for Glasgow City Eric Chalmers was on hand to make a fantastic save and deny Howat her second.

The second half of the game was more end to end. It meant there was more shots on target but both Chalmers and Elliott were up to the task. With 60 minutes gone Chalmers could do very little to stop Rangers doubling their advantage. Robertson had a shot from 25 yards and found the bottom left hand corner with a wonderful strike. It was a goal that merited her earlier creativity.
Rangers went on the attack again shortly after through Sarah Clelland. Her run down the line was strong and she whiped in a decent cross which was met by the head of Robertson. Unfortunately she couldn't guide it towards goal and Robertson's effort ended up over the bar.
In the dying minutes, Kodie Hay of Glasgow City ran the ball down the left looking to give her team a lifeline. She managed to pick out a pass to Claire Adams who tested Elliott but the Rangers keeper was equal to the shot.
In the end Rangers were deserved winners, but Glasgow City were unlucky to not score in what was an exciting contest.

Kirsty Howat's shot from the left hand side of the box was incredible to watch and unlucky not to go in. Hit with such power before bouncing off of the line.
The link up play between Lauren Kelly and Kodie Hay though-out the match was excellent.
