The 13's West Region Cup Final saw Celtic Girls take on Glasgow City Blacks at the Petershill Complex.
Within the first minute Celtic Girls had a good chance. Dionne Polland intercepted the keepers clearance but pulled her shot just wide.
Minutes later and Glasgow countered, linking passes between a confident Cara Henderson and Lucy Sinclair. The final shot though was off target by Hannah Scott keeping the sides level.
It wasn't long before the first goal which came on eight mintutes. A corner was delivered perfectly for Emma Lawton who headed it into the bottom left hand corner. It was fantastic finish from Celtic's number five.
Glasgow City Blacks responded almost immediately. Some solid passing opened up a gap for for Henderson and her shot found the back of the net to make it all level at 1-1.
Celtic had a good opportunity to go ahead before half time when Emma Johnstone's shot was on target. Thankfully for Glasgow Ellene McDonald was on hand to block the effort.
Not long after kick off Glasgow looked to take the lead for the first time. Leah Robinson moved down the left wing and crossed it in low for Henderson. Her shot was on target but the Celtic keeper Jade Baillie was quick to react and block with her legs.
Glasgow continued to push forward and Henderson was central to much of their play. She went on a lengthy run before Baillie came off her line to apply pressure. The Celtic keeper came out on top again as Henderson's shot ended up wide.
The game became hectic and play was very much end to end. Glasgow were the first to capatalize on the extra space that was being created. Cara Henderson ran down the right wing, cutting in and having a shot which was travelling towards the top corner. Baillie managed to palm it away but unfortunately for Celtic it fell at the feet of Lucy Sinclair who passed it into the net on 39 minutes.
Celtic had lacked a certain compsure up until this point but they regained it to draw level. Katleen McGovern glanced at goal before curling her shot away from the keepers hands and into the goal. A beautiful finish to make it 2-2 with twenty minutes remaining.
Both teams were putting their all into the game, blocking shots and making fantastic challenges.
With eight minutes to play Celtic came close to securing victory. Emma Lawton threw the ball long over the top of two defenders to find captain Katleen McGovern. Her shot from distance ended up just over the bar and out for a goal kick.
In the end it was Glasgow City who scored the elusive fifth goal. On the break Hannah Scott played a simple yet effective pass to Aimee Headland who knocked the ball past the last defender before running through and picking out the side netting with the finish.
The remaining five minutes were tense for all and Celtic came close when they hit the post in their search to level the game once more. In the end Glasgow came away victors in what was a memorable game full of exciting moments.
