This DFDL League Cup final between Antonine 15s and Lochgilphead Red Star was played out at Millburn Park.
The Leagues top two canelled eachother out for much of the opening exchanges, until some poor defending lead to the opening goal. Antonine failed to deal with a corner and Lochgilphead took full advantage at the far post.
Antonine however stung into action and Danny Hamilton fired a shot in from 20 yards which was saved by the Lochgilphead number one. They continued to heap on pressure with Hamilton again involved, this time as the supplier for Darren Wallace whose header came back off the Lochgilphead bar with the goalkeeper well beaten.
The score stayed the same at the break.
Half Time: Antonine 0-1 Lochgilphead
The second half began much as the first half ended with Antonine heaping on the pressure, wary of the Lochgilphead danger on the counter attack.
More chances were missed by Antonine who chased the equaliser. First Owen Gallacher was unlucky not to score from a driven shot 20 yards from goal, then another Hamilton cross was headed off target by Darren Wallace. Andy Caroll then managed to block a Lochgilphead shot before Adam Boyle had another strike saved well by the Lochgilphed number one.
Antonine sensed an equaliser was coming and continued to heap on the pressure. Boyle got the better of his man down the left wing before squaring it for Calaeb Elliot to bring out a wonderful save from the Lochgilphead Keeper.
Boyle once again was involved in the action as his shot was fired just over the bar, before yet another save prevented Mark Sweeney from grabbing the equaliser.
Despite the pressure, the referee blew the full time whistle with Lochgilphead holding out for a valuable Cup Final win!
Full Time: Antonine 0-1 Lochgilphead
