A game of two halves, Maryhill were the better team in the first half where the weather could only be described as dire. A defensive mistake led to the Maryhill striker Thomas Clark slotting home from 6 yards, but for all their pressure they could not add to the lead.
Half Time: Maryhill Juniors 1-0 Westpark United
The second half started after some constructive words to the Westpark team. Westpark started to get the ball down and pass which led to the equaliser. A lovely move which led to striker Stefan Graham bursting to the by-line and cutting a pinpoint pass across the 6 yard line to new boy Paul Coyle who scored his first goal for the club. With Westpark putting more pressure on the defence of Maryhill a corner resulted in centre half Ben Collins bulleting a header past Maryhill keeper Martin McCeachie to lead 2-1.
Both teams continued to play the game in a very good spirit. Two teams giving their all in a very good game despite the poor weather.
Full Time: Maryhill Juniors 1-2 Westpark United
