Rob Roy were again missing four strikers due to suspension and injury and finished the first half having enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and numerous chances with nothing to show for it. Great chances were passed up by Robertson, Starr and Morrison leaving the Rob Roy coaches wondering where a goal was going to come from.
In the 43rd minute, Pearce Starr, who was playing in his debut, was through on goal and brought down in the penalty box by the Barrhead keeper and centre back but the referee adjudged him to have handled the ball just prior to being taken down denying Rob Roy the penalty.
Half Time: Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 0-0 Barrhead YFC
In 55 Minutes Rob Roy scored to make it 1-0 with a great solo effort by Andrew (Mo) Morrison who picked up the ball at the half way line, ran up the left wing beating four defenders before cutting in and striking a superb left foot volley into the top corner of the net.
The rest of the second half was the same story as the first with the game being played entirely in the Barrhead half with chance after chance being spurned by the Rob Roy players.
All three substitutes were thrown on to try to find a second goal but the unthinkable happened when Barrhead scored in the 89th minute when a free kick was lobbed into the Rob Roy six yard box and in the ensuing melee the Barrhead striker poked the ball home.

The game went to a penalty shootout with Morrison, Kinlan, and McCallum all failing to find the net with their spot kicks as Barrhead ran out 3-0 winners.
