Airdrieonians Real BC vs Dyce BC - Players of the game

Written by

Airdrie: Rhys Park

Airdrieonians were extremely depleted heading into the game with only 12 to select from with a player unavailable, alongside two players who were cup tied. Rhys however was a positive for Airdrieonians Real, showing some good touches alongside linking up with other players during the game.

Rhys also got forward whenever he could and had one of very limited opportunities for Airdrie. Rhys also tried to defend and put in a lot of effort against a pacy and very forward thinking Dyce BC Blues Under 13s outfit.

Rhys will be disappointed with the outcome however he should look at a strong performance from his perspective and turn a disappointment into a positive going forward. It will be a tough defeat to take however if his attitude and application remains to a high standard then he will move on and become a stronger player in the future.

Dyce: Matt McFarlane

After an unsettled first period, Matt showed why he is a fantastic striker and a great finisher with a good eye for goal, the Dyce management team decided to place Matt in midfield for the first half however a tactical change at half time saw Matt move to striker which is his normal position and the big decision reaped it's rewards.

Matt gave the Airdrie defence something different to worry about in the second period and scored a fantastic first goal from a tight angle giving David Milligan no chance. The fact that McFarlane placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner from that tight angle speaks volumes about the type of finish it was.

McFarlane also scored a good second goal towards the business end of the game after getting into a great position before tucking the ball home. McFarlane helped his team mates throughout the duration of the game with a lack of quality pass the only difference between Dyce not being more of a threat in the first half.

In the second half, McFarlane showed why he is a quality player and he certainly helped the team with a deserved Scottish Cup success, only the second time at Under 13s level that an ADJFA side has won the Scottish Cup. This is a special Dyce team and Matt certainly ticks all the boxes to help make this team special.
