Lochgilphead Red Star 2005's First Team Coach Jamie McKenzie Speaks to YFS

Written by
At the YFS Open Night in Glasgow, we interviewed Jamie McKenzie, the First Team Coach of Red Star 2005s, who currently are competing as U10s.
Their season is almost at a close, with just one more Festival in Haldane left for them to compete in, after having competed in 13 so far this year in the surrounding area of Glasgow.
McKenzie is pleased with how the year has gone.
"The boys have come on well this year, so I'm very happy."
"The Glasgow Cup we did last month was probably our best festival this year. We played very well. I think we had 11 games over the whole weekend, and we won nine and lost two which is a good performance."
Jamie also has his eyes firmly fixed on next season and revealed his plans to us.
"We're hoping to go to the Blackpool Cup next year, taking the boys down to England for the first time. And again, we'll do all the festivals we did this year."
At present, the Coach seems pretty happy with the way his team are performing, and the personnel he has within the squad.
"We have 18 boys we work with all the time, they're hand-picked from the local community. At the moment we're not looking to increase the squad, if anything trying to downsize slightly."
All the best for next season's festivals! It will be great to see what they can do down in England.
