A nice late summer's morning sunshine set the background for a balanced and a well contested match. With both sides exchanging half chances for the first 15 minutes, the first serious chance fell to Ross McKechnie who just put the shot wide after Luke Mallett hit a ball across the face of goal. More chances came after this, Mallet again creating the chance this time for Craig Andrews whose header was well saved. The scoring was finally broken on the 25th minute mark as Liam Kavanagh sweet half volley found its way past Milngavie keeper Nathan McNeil to put the home side in the lead.

The reply came just five minutes after Kavanagh opened the scoring a scramble in the box led to Callum Anderson levelling the score 10 minutes to half time after Ardencaple dominated the majority of the first half.

But they couldn't see it out to half time they took the lead again, after clever play by Craig Andrews it deflected off Jordan McMeekin into his own net to give the home side a 2-1 advantage at half time.

Sometimes you get a game of two halves. This game was not one of them starting pretty much the same to the first half both sides creating half chances. The best of these falling to Andrews whose shot was again well saved.

Milngavie thought they had equalised through Ewan Dawson only to be chopped off for offside with just 20 minutes left they kept looking for an equaliser.

This proved costly after pressure from Ardencaple. Liam Kavanagh's shot was saved by the keeper and ended up in the back of the net courtesy of a deflection from Jack Bower to clinch the game.

Even though they are a year younger Ardencaple showed their quality against their older opponents playing some good football and holding a good defence line to clinch a good victory.

Liam Kavanagh-a really pace winger capable of coming inside to have a shot at goal cause left back issues all day. Honourable mention to Craig Andrews who ran the midfield.
Ian Taggart - Showed real skill and quality looked capable of opening the defence up at any time.
Magic Moment
Ardencaple FC
Milngavie BC
Created many chances that if they were finished could have been classed as magic but the wonderful skill from Craig Andrews that led to the first own goal.
When Ian Taggart picked up the ball 20 yards from goal he hit a fierce shot that was very close to going in.
