A nice late summer's morning sunshine set the background for a balanced and a well contested match. With both sides exchanging half chances for the first 15 minutes, the first serious chance fell to Ross McKechnie who just put the shot wide after Luke Mallett hit a ball across the face of goal. More chances came after this, Mallet again creating the chance this time for Craig Andrews whose header was well saved. The scoring was finally broken on the 25th minute mark as Liam Kavanagh sweet half volley found its way past Milngavie keeper Nathan McNeil to put the home side in the lead.
The reply came just five minutes after Kavanagh opened the scoring a scramble in the box led to Callum Anderson levelling the score 10 minutes to half time after Ardencaple dominated the majority of the first half.
But they couldn't see it out to half time they took the lead again, after clever play by Craig Andrews it deflected off Jordan McMeekin into his own net to give the home side a 2-1 advantage at half time.
