A hotly anticipated final was in store for all in attendance at Petershill Park, and Glenvale completed a memorable treble season.

It was Glenvale rose to the occasion early on with a shot going narrowly over the crossbar just minutes into the game. The game was flowing from end-to-end with St Andrews having early chances, a throughly entertaining start to the match.

The game began to settle down with some possession in the middle of the park with a long shot from Douglas sailing past goal. Then, Liam McMenemy hit a shot and the St Andrews goalkeeper Lewis Faller making a good save. Again Glenvale attacked with Declan Curran's driving a shot goalwards which was beaten away again by Faller.

The rest of the first half was a midfield battle until five minutes before the break. Glenvale's wonderfully struck corner was headed over by Liam Houston.

The deadlock was broken soon after when Sam Walters ended a good passing move by Glenvale with a powerful effort to give his side the lead.

The second half started much like the first as Glenvale attacked. Houston knocked the ball over the crossbar after a long ball and can count himself extremely unlucky not to put his team two goals up.

However this was not for long as a corner as Gregor McFadzean hit a 25-yard wonder-strike just 10 minutes into the second half to give Glenvale a two-goal cushion.

Again like in the first half the game developed into a midfield battle with some half chances falling Glenvale's way. Sadly for St Andrews they could not get a sniff and Glenvale further increased their lead as a short corner was turned home by Fraser Lee to put the game beyond doubt with five minutes to play.

Glenvale continued to attack with Andrew McColl having a shot well saved. But soon after they further increased their lead from a free kick from Houston and the keeper could not keep it out and make Glenvale have a four-goal lead. He certainly made up for his earlier missed opportunities with this effort. This was the final piece of action and Glenvale had completed the treble.

Liam Houston - Controlled the midfield, was really strong and played excellently. He was instrumental in his Glenvale's win.
Lewis Faller - Made vital saves to keep his team in the game. He did not deserve to lose four goals but sometimes football is harsh and for this wee man it certainly was.

The truly sensational second goal, a 25-yard wonder strike which anyone would be proud of. Certainly one to watch on the highlights!
Faller's saves in the first half shone out on a difficult day for St Andrew's. They should be proud to have reached the final.
