Fixture: Maryhill Juniors v St Peters
Competition: Under 16's PJDYFL Division 1
Date: 28/02/15

Maryhill Juniors fine strike to take the lead and a couple of important saves saw from their keeper saw them out battle their opponents St. Peters in a tough fought 1-1 draw between two sides situated at the top of the Paisley Johnston and District, Division 1.

Maryhill started the better, pressing St. Peter's back at every opportunity as a couple of clipped balls over the top put in striker Aidan lynch but strong defending cancelled out any threats.

Again the St. Peter's rear guard were put under pressure when a long free kick from John Cassidy had to be touched over the bar after an awkward bounce in the box.

The first real chance of the game fell to another Maryhill striker Reegan Shearer who blasted his shot over from a corner kick.

But, the striker didn't have long to wait before breaking the dead lock from another corner after a great move, St. Peter's failed to clear and the ball fell to Reegan Shearer on his favourite left foot, only for the strikers shot to come back off the left hand post where again the defence failed to clear as it fell to Shearer once again who flicked with his left onto his right unleashing an unstoppable volley high past the helpless keeper into the back of the net much to the delight of the home support that stretched the almost the length of pitch.

Maryhill continued to press looking for a second but the St. Peter's frontline still carried a threat as it proved on the half hour mark as the Maryhill defence switched off at a quickly taken throw in allowing the St. Peter's forward to finish under the Maryhill keeper from close range. 1-1.

St. Peter's goal gave them a lift and it took a goal saving block from Maryhill's Jack King and a great save from keeper Calum Clark, who would go on to make a couple of equally important saves in the second half from preventing St. Peter's from taking a lead into halftime.

Half Time : Maryhill Juniors 1-1 St Peters

The second half started with Maryhill going looking for their second goal as they created chances with Shearer coming closest, heading over from six yards.

As the game went on both defences stood strong, Maryhill's the more as the action all seemed to be in the St Peter's half, but with no more goals scored the hard fought tough tackling, end to end game played between two quality sides ended all square.
