With the qualifiers for the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 starting last week, YFS and Trans World Soccer are dedicating this week to highlight the growth of the women and girl's game. Trans World Soccer has seen a huge surge in the number of Tour requests from girls and women's clubs in the last 6 months, and this week we focus on Westdyke Community Club Girls.

The girl's enjoyed a 4 day Experience with Trans World Soccer last season, visiting Manchester, Sunderland and Newcastle at the start of May.  First up was an elite training session from the Manchester City Women's squad. Westdyke coach, David Hodgson said: 'I think they're having a great time out there today, they might be wanting us to do some new drills next week!'.

Next up, was a short trip along the road to The Theatre of Dreams to take in Manchester United take on West Bromich Albion, with Megan Taylor stating that 'the noise was deafening!'. Over the course of the trip, the girls also played out challenge matches vs local opposition, first of all against Stockport County Ladies and then narrowly losing out by just a 2 goal margin vs Manchester City Ladies. Anna Blanchard was upbeat despite the defeat, stating that the team 'could have won', with Piper Kerr describing the experience as 'fantastic'.

There was no time to contemplate the result though, as it was straight out on the road again to go and watch Everton Ladies vs Notts County Ladies in the Women's FA Cup semi-final. The trip was rounded off in style with a behind the scenes tour of Newcastle United's stadium, St James Park, with most of the girl's staring in awe at the sheer size of the arena.

As a parting thought, Caitlin Harries described the trip as having made 'a real difference to so many people - it's brought us all closer, on behalf of my team mates, thank you for a rewarding experience.' See below for their highlights video of their experience:

Glasgow-headquartered cloud computing company iomart has launched another great football kit giveaway to coincide with the start of the group stages of the UEFA Champions League this week.

Through its community sports campaign Host Your Kit, iomart has 16 top quality adidas team kits up for grabs by youth football league teams aged from under-10 to under-16.

The competition was launched with the help of Strathendrick FC 2004s (pictured) who play in the Forth Valley Football Development Association League. To win a squad kit like the one they are wearing all you have to do is explain why you think your team deserves to receive a new team strip. The Host Your Kit judges will award kits (for 14 outfield players and a goalkeeper) to the 16 best entries.

Phil Worms, Chief Marketing Officer for iomart, said: “We are proud to have helped almost 200 boys’ and girls’ football teams with new kits over the past three years. Through Host Your Kit we are delighted that the coaches and parents involved with these teams can spend their time encouraging children to play rather than worrying about how they can raise money for new kit.”

Among the Scottish teams to have won kits through Host Your Kit are Leith under-14s, Oban Saints under-16s, Musselburgh Windsor under-11 girls and Polbeith under-16s in Ayr.

Youth Football Scotland and Pitch22 have been offering youth football clubs in Scotland the opportunity to try the fantastic club management software, Pitch22, completely free of charge!

The Pitch22 platform allows the club to look at itself from a more holistic point of view, more as a whole unit, rather than as an individual team, giving the club more business continuity to move forward.

We made contact with many clubs over the last few weeks who bemoaned the time they spend on the administration involved in running a club. The main benefits of Pitch22 in facilitating this administration process are outlined below:

-Gain control of your information by tracking attendances and fees. Upload all your documents into the one place and access them from anywhere.

-Save time & money by improving administration and getting your club and team better organised by empowering coaches, parents and players to confirm attendances and submit payments and medical documents etc.

-Improve your club's communication by opening up dialogue with parents/guardians and players and communicating with them directly.

Many clubs in Scotland have already seized this opportunity to try Pitch22 free. Even some of Scotland's top professional clubs including Rangers, Hibernian, Partick Thistle, Stenhousemuir and Alloa Athletic are getting involved!  See below for a full list of clubs who have signed up:

Last week we hosted a number of clubs at YFS HQ in Edinburgh to discuss the Pitch22 club management system that can benefit clubs and the way they administer their operations.  Some of Scotland's biggest clubs attended on the day, including Hutchison Vale, Murieston United, Red Star United, Longniddry Villa and Cambuslang FA. Click here to join them in signing your club up for a 60-day free trial of our club management software today.

The software sparked some interesting discussion, with Norrie Kerr, coach co-ordinator of Hutchison Vale stating that he was 'really impressed with the setup and functionality of the software'.

David Buchanan, Chief Executive of Cambuslang FA described Pitch22 as: 'an online service which can help take away your spreadsheets and paperwork and place it into the one system. It's very beneficial from my perspective as a Chief Executive as it makes everything a lot easier to see clearly who's been attending what training sessions etc, so it gives a lot of help for the club to go forward'.

YFS on the road

We also offered clubs the chance to attend their HQ with the YFS cameras to see what they thought of the club management platform. We attended the Broxburn United Sports Club HQ on Monday evening, with Community Club Development Manager James Pegg stating that: 'we have had piles of paper all over people's house, cars etc and this resource looks like it can tidy this stuff up for us, which would be a great help to everyone involved with the club'.

We also spoke to Archie Douglas, chairman of Barrhead Youth Football Club, who said: 'There's a lot of different reasons to have a unit where you can just communicate with everyone at the one time within the whole club, Pitch22 would certainly be a big help with that.'

Claudio Camilleri, Founder of Pitch22, said that: 'our platform allows a club the ability to start looking at the club from a more holistic point of view, more as a whole unit, rather than an individual team and this gives the club more business continuity'.
