Valspar extend their lead at the top of the table after defeating Carrick

On a cold frosty morning, Valspar traveled down to Maybole to play Carrick. Valspar were looking to extend their lead at the top of the table to six points, where as Carrick were looking to move into the middle of the table. 
Carrick made a strong start with a chance coming their way within the first few minutes, which was not converted into a goal.
Valspar took about 10 minutes to get going but once they did they were on top. A ball came in from the left for Brendan lynch to score a header, 1-0 valspar. 
Five minutes went past and Valspar had a free kick on the edge of the box. Lee young stepped up and smashed the ball into the top corner, an excellent free kick, extending Valspar's advantage. 
Valspar were no dominating play, Scott Oniel picked up the ball at the half way line and showed some great pace to get to the opposition box, where he bent the ball in to top corner, making the score line 3-0.
The games fourth and Valspar's fourth came from a corner. The ball fell to Jamie Macleod after a miscued clearence landed straight to him, where he slotted the ball home.
Half Time : Carrick 0-4 Valspar 
The second half started and Valspar started off the way they finished in the first half. Valspar were on the attack a lot, but Carrick were defending well, keeping Valspar at bay, until the ball fell to Gavin Scott on inside the area, where he fired home. 
The game slowed down for the next twenty minutes or so, until Carrick got a free kick on the edge of the box, which forced a great save from Valspar keeper Danny Gray. 
With ten minutes left, Oliver Wilson picked up the ball and played a excellent forty yard pass to give Cammy Gilmour an opportunity to grab Valspar another goal, the Carrick keeper came out to narrow the angle, but Gilmour managed to hit the ball round the advancing keeper, making it 6-0.
With five minutes left on the clock, a blocked shot fell to Lucas Elliot who slotted home nicely. 
With the full time whistle edging closer, Valspar grabbed themselves another goal, after Byron Dempsey rose in the air, meeting a cross and he made no mistake in heading the ball home.
The referee blew the whistle for full time, signalling the end of the match.
