This was a tight fought local derby match which saw two very strong sides in the South West region come together.
The first 10-15 minutes saw a very even match with very few clear cut chances being made.
Meadow eventually broke the deadlock through a header at the back post from Jack Rodden to make it 1-0 to the away side.
Girdle came back in to the game and scored after their midfielder broke free and fired a shot in from 22 yards out, which bounced away from Meadow’s make shift goalkeeper, Ben Cunningham and managed to just creep into the corner of the net to end the first half.

The second half started similar to the first half with chances being few and far between until a long Girdle clearance was poorly dealt with by the Meadow defence.
Meadow had 2 or 3 free attempts to clear the ball before the Girdle forward managed to force the ball home from 5 yards out to give Girdle a 2-1 lead after 55 minutes.
Meadow made a couple of subs and changed their formation playing 3 up front to try and force the issue with Kieran Struthers and Cammy Inglis coming on.
Immediately the game swung when Billy Milne sped past 2 Girdle defenders on the right wing before cutting inside and driving past the Girdle keeper at the near post to make it 2-2 with 13 minutes left.
Meadow continued to pile on the pressure resulting in three or four corners and three free kicks on the edge of the box.
It was only five minutes later when Meadow took the lead when Sam Auld brilliantly slid in and forced home a corner from seven yards out after three previous Meadow players attempts were blocked inside the six yard box from the Girdle defence.
This was to end the scoring 3-2 to Irvine Meadow in a close fought match with the three points going to the away side, and helps keep their 100% league record intact.
