While players and coaches from all across Scotland prepare for the 2014/15 season, one club and team will be missing a very special talent for the start of their campaign.
Lochar Thistle Youth AFC wrote “Over recent months a Lochar Thistle Youths AFC player Stevie Jo Kirkpatrick has been battling leukaemia and is currently undergoing further treatment.
“Stevie Jo is a very popular member of the 2004 team and her Dad, Steven, was one of the coaches.
“Both are a loss to the club and we wish Stevie Jo all the best and can't wait to see her back on the park.”
The family are now doing their bit to thank and help the Yorkhill hospital and the other groups who have supported them over this period. They’re holding a charity event at the Lochside Social Club on Saturday 26th of July starting at 19:00. Tickets are £5 and are available on the evening.
Even if you can’t make this Saturday, you can still support the campaign by donating at Jojos GoFundMe page. The link is http://www.gofundme.com/90781w. You can also keep up with Jojo's story via Facebook which you can access by clicking here.
Lochar Thistle Youth AFC concluded “Please give generously to this great cause and follow Jojo to keep up to date with her progress.” We at YFS couldn’t agree more and we wish Jojo, her family, and the club all the very best.
