St Cadocs Under 17s v Glenbrae Colts Under 17s
Phillips Cup -  31/03/ 2012

With Saints going well in the first division and Glenbrae struggling in the second, it was just possible that a shock was on the cards. It took only seven minutes though, for that romantic notion to be shattered as Martin Paul got on the end of a Steven Lavery cross to put St Cadocs one up. 1-0

He took only another five minutes to double his tally as he got on the end of a lovely through ball from Joe Macfarlane. 2-0

Colts were under siege and the only thing stopping Saints   was their inability to time their runs as the number of times they were caught offside reached double figures. However, in thirty six minutes Steven Lavery timed his run to perfection and scored easily to effectively end the game as a contest and make it 3-0.

Half time: St Cadocs Under 17s 3-0 Glenbrae Colts Under 17s

It took only three minutes into the second half for Joe Macfarlane to score as he galloped away and rounded the goalie to make it four, and after another five minutes he doubled his tally and scored from 18 yards to make it 5-0.

It then became the Steven Lavery show as Stevo went mad and scored another four goals bringing his tally to five and the overall score to 9-0. Gordon Young brought proceedings to an end when he scored from 20 yards and made it 10-0.

It has to be said that many teams would have thrown in the towel but great credit must go to Colts who kept plugging away and showed great spirit. They met St Cadocs in the middle of a great run of form and very few teams would have stood a chance.

Full time: St Cadocs Under 17s 10-0 Glenbrae Colts Under 17s

Goalscorers: Martin Paul (2) Steven Lavery (5) Joe Macfarlane (2) & Gordon Young

Man of the Match:  Oh that’s a hard one, let me see, eeny meeny miney…STEVO!! STEVO!!  STEVO!!
