Bellshill Athletic Under 21s vs Dumbarton Accies Under 21s

Bellshill got their LSK West of Scotland Cup campain off to a winning start with a 3 - 2 victory over Dumbarton Accies.
Athletic are the result of a combined effort from Bellshill's junior side and local youth club Mossend FC. With Accies an established Premier Division outfit, the odds were stacked against the Division 3 newcomers.
The first half turned out to be a very even game with chances at both ends. Anderson shooting over after a great run down the wing and a powerful McClymont header striking the bar from a corner for Bellshill and numbers 10 and 7 causing problems and shooting wide and over for Accies.

Bellshill made a change at the start of the second half with Hamill replacing the injured Goldie. Hamill made an impact straight away with some good passing and attacking play. Ten minutes into the second half, Anderson managed to race clear of the Accies full-back and cut back the ball from the byline to the oncoming Boyd who scores from 10 yards out.
Bellshill were starting to look the more dominant team and their pressure paid off when McGuiness rounded the keeper and scores after a great through ball from McClymont to make it 2 - 0.
With 20 mins remaining Accies made some substitutions which resulted in more pressure being put on the Bellshill defence and it paid off when a penalty was awarded after a hand ball which No 10 scored to make it 2- 1.
Chances are missed by both teams before a mistake in the Bellshill defence allowed an Accies midfielder to produce a great strike for an equaliser.
With five minutes left on the clock and penalty kicks looming Bellshill managed to win a free kick on the edge of the opposing box which Smith converted into the bottom corner of the net. This turned out to be the winner, as soon after the referee blew for full time.
