ADJFA outfit Deveronvale used home advantage to full benefit to book their place in Tuesdays last 16 draw as they edged out Forth Valley Football Development Association side Milton Blue.

Both sides had enjoyed good starts to their respective campaigns. Deveronvale are currently 5th in the ADJFA league whilst Milton Blue sit at the top of the Forth Valley Football Development Association league.

Milton Blue prepared for this game in the best way possible with the team staying in accommodation in Elgin & Aberdeen on Saturday ahead of the 12pm kick off.

This game was scheduled to take place at School Park, Whitehills however with conditions in Banffshire debatable; a decision was made on Saturday afternoon to change the game to Canal Park, Banff. The Canal Park was quite heavy however the spectators were treated to a cracking game of football with 5 goals.

Deveronvale started the game on the front foot & were able to get into dangerous positions and opened the scoring after just three minutes. A great ball in from Brodi Smith found Lucas Sey who got himself into a good position in the penalty box & guided home a fine finish.

At the other end, Milton pressed for an immediate equaliser with David Scott having an effort saved by Curtis West before Andrew Cruse saw his effort saved after being put through on goal.

Milton equalised in the 20th with a cross-cum-shot from Paul O’Hara after Milton played some good football & the ball was spread wide into O’Hara who got his side back into the game.

Both sides were nip & tuck at each other from the word go with either side having chances although there was nothing real clear cut. David Scott had a great effort for Milton though which gone inches wide.

Milton went ahead in the 59th minute after a Clark Miller effort crashed off the bar & David Scott was there to put the ball into an empty net.  With 11 minutes left on the clock however, there was plenty of action was still to take place.

Deveronvale pulled level just three minutes later after Sey went on a mazy run and planted his effort from 15 yards finding the bottom left hand corner. Vale then threatened to get a winner to erase any thoughts of extra time with an effort from Logan Macauley Mill however the pacy forwards shot flashed wide.

An extra 20 minutes of football commenced & it was a quiet start to extra time with the only notable chance within the first-half of extra time was for Milton through lively forward David Scott which was knocked wide. The game would probably be decided on a good move or a touch of class & it was a good move which decided the outcome of this tie. Deveronvale nicked a winner with three minutes from the final whistle. A ball from Logan Macauley Mill found Jake Watt who banged a great effort home into the far left hand corner past an exposed Milton defence. There was nothing much between the teams with Vale just deserving of victory over the piece. This result is testament to how competitive the ADJFA Under 13s league is this season with Vale joining Banks O’Dee Albion, Dyce BC, Cove YFC & Ellon Meadows in Tuesdays draw. Milton put in a good performance & can take pride from this game into their own domestic campaign.

Final Result: 3-2 AET
