Four second half goals from Meghan Campbell proved to be the difference as KSC Girls U13 claimed an emphatic victory over Rutherglen at the Kilwinning Sports Club.

KSC have been used to high scoring fixtures this season as they thrashed Erskine 13-0 in their previous game. Rutherglen, however, had their own reasons to be confident going into the match on the back of a 4-0 victory over Dean Thistle last time around.

The early exchanges of this match were closely contested and when Leah Paterson scored the opener for KSC in the 13th minute Rutherglen replied with an equaliser a minute later.

KSC took the initiative again just before the half hour mark when Ailie Meighan converted and the home side took a 2-1 lead into the half time break.

The team talk from the Rutherglen manager seemed to pay dividends and ten minutes after the referee had restarted play the visitors had levelled the score once more.

On the 49th minute, with the match poised at 2-2, it was a solo master class from Campbell that turned the match on its head as she banged in four goals in the space of ten minutes to end the match as a contest.

KSC claimed their third league victory on the bounce and it will stand them in good stead as they take on Ayr United away this Saturday. Ayr are currently third, one place below KSC in the Erin Cuthbert league, so three points will be crucial for either side.

Rutherglen, who are seventh in the league, will host East Kilbride Girls U13 (Blues) on Saturday who are eighth - another clash of huge importance to both sides.

Meghan Campbell - Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski once scored five goals in the space of nine minutes against Wolfsburg in the second half of a Bundesliga match. Campbell showed shades of the Polish maestro's feat by scoring four in the same space of time to win the match for her side. It is a remarkable achievement at any level.

Campbell's first goal on the 49th minute, so soon after Rutherglen had equalised, proved to be the catalyst for KSC pushing on for victory.
Rutherglen done well to peg back the hosts so soon after they took the lead early on. They continued to battle on into the second half but ultimately it wasn't to be their day.
