Prestwick come out on top in tricky conditions

Written by  Prestwick CFC

Fixture: Prestwick CFC v Valspar
Competition: U14's WOSYF League
Venue: The Oval
Date: 28/03/15
Prestwick 14's ran out deserved winners in very testing windy conditions at the Oval on saturday.
Playing into a very strong wind Prestwick took the game to Valspar with some very neat passing football and the first real chance of the game fell to prestwick's Jack Anderson who raced through on goal and with the advancing keeper to beat his lobbed shot just crept over the bar.
It was then Valspar's turn to press with the wind advantage and they forced a few corners which were well defended by the prestwick defence.
Prestwick took the lead after a great passing move from midfield  and a cross from Aidan O'Neill was volleyed into the net by Jack Anderson.
Chances were coming thick and fast for prestwick and the lead should have been increased when Josh Alexander lost his footing as he was about to score and then Anderson tried another lob which went just wide.
Prestwick increased their lead just before half time with another fine strike from Anderson.
The second half was much of the same although Valspar had a very good 10 min spell where they threaten down the right hand side this eventually culminated in a goal from their striker Robbie Hannah.
Prestwick continued to press and missed a hatful of chances to increase their lead and put the game safe.
Half time sub Paul O'Neil completed some suastained pressure from prestwick with a cute finish from the edge of the box with 10 mins to go and prestwick managed to see the remainder of the game out for an important victory.
