Loanhead kicked-off the game among the chilly winds at Meggetland sports complex.
The 3G surface of the ground was unaffected by the previous days bad weather, allowing for some good free flowing football to be played by both teams.
Tynecastle deployed a tactic of high pressing from the off defending from the front as a team, the away team however seemed unnerved by the pressure and some quick one-two touch passing along the defence allowed them to put Tynecastle on the back foot early in the first half.
The first chance of note however was provided by Tynecastle from a freekick 25 yards out forcing an excellent stop from Loanhead keeper Ben Mackenzie.
There would be no respite for the Loanhead defence as the resulting corner produced a fine header from Tynecastle’s Matthew Quinn only for it to be blocked brilliantly by the Loanhead defence keeping the score level
As the half wore on it was clear that this was a game needing something special to break the dead lock as both teams seemed to cancel each other out through the middle of the park.

The half time break seemingly re-energised both sides, with Tynecastle kicking off the second half, after the pace of the game dropped towards the end of the first half.

Both teams however wary of the importance of the cup seemed reluctant to commit numbers forward.
Tynecastle may have gone into the lead only for the woodwork to save Loanhead from going behind after Barry Hogg shook the crossbar from just outside the box.
Tynecastle slowly found their feet and rattled the woodwork again after Loanhead Goalkeeper Mackenzie tipped a Barry Hogg effort onto the crossbar.
Loanhead beginning to sense themselves on the back foot ever so slightly responded witha swift counter attack of their own down the left hand side resulting in an effort just shy of the post from Ryan Porteous.
After this flurry of chances the game settled into an intense affair again with both sides attempting to work through the middle and break down the opposing defence.
Ten minutes before the end of normal time the best chance of the game arose. Loanhead worked a fine ball from the middle over the top of the Tynecastle defence into the path of their on-rushing striker Andrew Mcneill coming down the right hand side. After a brilliant first touch Mcneill took the ball round the goalkeeper before having his shot blocked off the line by Tyncastle Defender Matthew Quinn.

With the scores level both teams entered the first period of extra time after a short break. The beginnings of the added period looked to be headed the same way as the rest of the match with both teams cancelling each other out. However midway through from an inconspicuous piece of play the visitors snatched the lead. After a succession of throw in’s down the left hand side loanhead fed the ball inside around 25 yards out from goal to Samuel Jones who controlled a bouncing ball and struck a looping volley with his right foot to catch the Tynecastle goalkeeper off his line and put his side into the lead. A lead which they would comfortably hold onto throughout the extra time period. Score (AET): Tynecastle FC 0 – 1 Loanhead MYFC

Ben Mackenzie - Made some excellent saves throughout the game to allow his team a fighting chance which they capitalised on by scoring in extra time.
Magic Moment
Tynecastle FC
Loanhead MYFC
When Barry Hogg struck a shot straight at the cross bar from just inside the box. A little lower and Tyncastle ,may have gone on to win the game.
Probably an obvious choice, but the goal from the away side was a true magic moment, catching the keeper off his line and the ball was well struck from a distance.
