Newbattle are top of the league and went in to the game as favourites but it was James young who got off on the front foot.
Scott and Cully took early control of the midfield and played a Ball in to Kahl's feet, he turned his man before sliding a pass through with the side off his foot to put Craig clean through. Craig beat the defender and rounded the keeper, but was forced too wide, he cut back on to his right but the chance had gone.
The next twenty minutes was a battle. James Young worked tirelessly all over the pitch to shut down Newbattle and forced them into playing long, more often than not, the ball was too long and was ushered out of play by Kieran and Corey.
When the ball did get into the Newbattle striker, Andrew had him well marshalled and forced him wide where Dom doubled up and dispossessed him before starting us playing again.
Scott and Cully were dominating in the middle and were playing some excellent balls into the channels for our front four to chase down. We created a few half chances but Newbattle looked solid and defended well.
On twenty seven minutes Liam and Craig combined well to win a free kick on the edge of the box. Scott took the honours but his low shot didn't trouble the keeper.
The final ten minutes saw James Young pile the pressure on. We were starting to work the ball down both wings with Kai and Liam took quick for the full backs. We worked some half chances but nothing really troubled the away sides defence.

Newbattle looked short of ideas but changed their shape and started the second half the stronger team. They had pushed extra men up front and were starting to look dangerous.
Kahl dropped into midfield to give us a bit of extra protection in midfield and he helped to get us playing again. The game was a real battle with the game going from end to end but with both defences looking strong.
Twelve minutes in and James Young should have taken the lead. Kahl won the ball in midfield and played it through to Craig. He outmuscled his defender and ran through on goal. The keeper came out and Craig opted to hit it early but his shot went over the bar, maybe he could have went round the keeper, but the chance was lost.
Six minutes later and this looked like a costly miss. Newbattle broke down their right. They worked the space well and played a good cross into the box, the striker nipped in front of Andrew and scored with a tidy finish, 1-0 to Newbattle.
With James Young needing the equaliser, Aaron came on up top, with Kai making way and Craig moving to the right.
The goal seemed to motivate James Young with Newbattle unsure whether to stick or twist.
With ten minutes left James Young got their reward. Again it came down our right. This time Scott played the ball in to the channel for Craig to chase. He burst past his man and drove towards the box. He hit a low drive towards the back post, it evaded the keeper and was out of reach of the defenders, but not Aaron. He had worked tirelessly since coming on and made up the ground to slide and tap in.

The game went to penalties. With a few players struggling with injuries, the brave five were Craig, Andrew, Cully, Luke and Kahl.
One by one they penalties were dispatched. Craig and Cully smashed theirs away and Andrews sneaked under the keeper.
Luke nearly saved their third before standing up and rifling in his own. At 5-4 to Newbattle, Kahl stood up. Unfortunately in these occasions someone has to miss. Kahl placed it left and the keeper guessed correctly, making the save and winning the tie for Newbattle.
