Livingston FCBC travelled to Bonnyrigg this weekend to take on Bonnyrigg Rose in a league match. The match was played at lasswade High school on the dreaded 3G in terrible windy conditions!
The away side struggled to put a team on the park for todays game with only eleven players available, incredibly missing eight players through injury, illness and suspension.
We started the match playing 4-4-1-1 into a strong wind. The away side made the worst start possible, straight from the kick off Bonnyrigg got through on goal and we conceded a penalty, 1-0.
This was a massive blow and Livingston FCBC struggled to recover as our opponents took control of the game.
A long ball in behind the defence saw Bonyrigg go two up and left the away side with a mountain to climb.
Livingston FCBC battled away for the rest of the half and tried our hardest to get back into the game, Darragh and Kyle were linking well and backed up by Ben, Lewis A, Brandon and Jack we managed to muster a few shots and goal but were unable to really trouble the keeper.
Harry went close with a couple of free kicks and Kyle was unlucky to see one sail past the upright. The away side defended well for the remainder of the half with Ross, Dez, Rayann and Harry backed up by Cammie keeping the scoreline down to two.
As Livingston FCBC regrouped at half-time the boys were tired and the heads were down, the coaches had to lift them. They explained they were well in the game due to their first half efforts and to make sure if we could to go and win the second half.
Half Time : Bonyrigg Rose 2-0 Livingston FCBC
Livingston FCBC started well and soon took control of the game, assisted by the strong wind they were always going to create chances it was just a question of if they could take them!
First chance of the half fell to Harry who from forty yards smashed a free kick towards the goal, the keeper saved it low to his right but Darragh was alert to keep the ball in and knock it across for Kyle to nod into the net. 2-1 game on.
The match was real end to end stuff now and we decided to throw caution to the wind by playing three at the back and pushing two up front.
Livingston FCBC had to rely on some great defending through out the half from Dez, Harry and Rayaan and Cammie was at his brilliant best pulling off four or five very good saves.
The midfield drove the game forward with Jack and Ross on the wings in good form and Ben, Lewis A and Brandon were battling for everyone.
Good play again from Darragh and Kyle won us a corner, Brandon swung it in and Harry came flying in to hammer home a header for the equaliser. 2-2.
It was anyone`s game now as both teams pushed to win the match, full credit to Bonnyrigg who created some good chances but couldnt find a way past Cammie.
Harry went close with another free kick won by Kyle as he burst through on goal, the ball seemed destined for the net but was deflected behind for a corner.
As the boys looked to be heading for an excellent point under the circumstances they gave it one last push in the final minutes.
The ball went out for a throw in thirty yards from goal, Kyle`s quick thinking released Darragh he layed the ball into the path of Ross who calmy clipped the ball over the keeper to give the boys a wonderful victory.
