The match began with the opening exchanges being very tight, with both teams midfielders tackling well and the defenders keeping on top.

The first chance fell to Hutchison Vale, with a great ball from number seven to number nine, this created a one on one with the keeper. However, the resulting shot slid just wide of the post.

Musselburgh then had a through ball after fifteen minutes, however the Hutchison Vale keeper was able to gather the ball after a couple of touches from the Musselburgh number nine.

On twenty eight minutes, Hutchison Vale broke away with their number ten bombing down the right hand side. Despite being tripped up by a Musselburgh player, he continued his run but he dragged his effort wide.

Musselburgh were to have the next chance, as their number ten's acrobatic over head kick was gather by the Hutchison Vale keeper.

Hutchison Vale nearly went one nil up, after capitalising on a short pass which was pounced on by their number twelve, who rounded the keeper only to see his shot blocked through a deflection, taking the ball past the post.

Half Time : Hutchison Vale 0-0 Musselburgh Athletic

Hutchison Vale started brightly in the second half after a great passing move from back to front resulted in a shot from the number ten narrowly missing the target.

Musselburgh however, had a great ten minute spell after this, controlling the midfield battle and setting up a couple of chances for their strikers.

It was Musselburgh who were next to almost go 1-0 up after a spill from the Hutchison Vale keeper was followed up by their Musselburgh striker, however unfortunately for him the Hutchison Vale number three cleared the danger brilliantly.

The number twenty four for Musselburgh then got in behind the Hutchison Vale keeper, he then shot, only to see the ball be blocked once again and Hutchison Vale cleared their lines.

Hutchison Vale then made a couple of substitutions and changed their shape in order to combat Musselburgh's midfield superiority.

After all the Musselburgh pressure, it was the home side who took the lead after a corner wasn't dealt with by the Musselburgh defence and the Hutchison Vale number three, Hamilton bundled the ball over the line, 1-0.

Fifty eight minutes in and a great chance for Hutchison Vale was squandered when their number seven danced past two defenders before blazing his shot over the bar.

After a quiet spell Musselburgh beat the home sides offside trap, with the striker being in on goal, but he sliced his effort wide.

The next goal came inside the sixty fifth minute in the form of a fantastic free kick from the Hutchison Vale number three, Hamilton, as his effort was guided into the top corner, 2-0.

Two minutes later the Hutchison Vale number seven drove into the box and from a tight angle he scored, putting the match beyond the reach of Musselburgh.
