Livingston CFC Maroons travelled to Linlithgow on Saturday for a tricky league encounter. Conditions early on were perfect and the boys made a bright start, forcing Linlithgow back into their own half.
Linlithgow soon settled however and it was clear this was going to be a tense affair. Yasin and Luke were winning the midfield battle and with the Scott, Jamie and Robert supporting them the maroons started to turn the screw.
Ahmed playing the loan Striker role was giving the big rose centre half a torrid time but the breakthrough would not come. Twenty minutes in and Kevan was introduced up front, he soon made his presence felt when he latched on to a loose ball in the box to open the scoring for Livi.
Linlithgow pushed to get back into the game but the back five of Livingston, Gary (keeper) Ryan, Tyler, Sean and Christopher mopped up any pressure and the boys went in at half time a goal to the good.

Changes were made at half time with Mathew replacing Ryan and Ben on for Ahmed. Again the boys were playing their football in the Rose half and after some typically determined work from Yassin and Luke the ball fell to Ben in the box. The wee man gratefully accepted the gift to poke the ball home and double Livi’s lead.
Linlithgow made several changes and were starting to get a foothold in the game. Declan was brought on to beef up the midfield but Linlithgow were throwing everything at Livi, eventually the ball broke loose in the box and it was slotted passed Gary for 2-1.
The final few minutes were a nervy affair for the Livi fans as Linlithgow sent forward waves of attacks. For all their pressure however, their only clear cut chance was brilliantly saved by Gary who threw himself in the way of a fierce drive and the ball flew over the bar.
The boys had to dig really deep but managed to hold on for a deserved win. Credit must go to Linlithgow who never gave up, always tried to play football and served up a thoroughly entertaining game.
