City started really well and had Haddington on the back foot immediately. City were dominating the play as Haddington struggled to find and an answer for the intensity that City were playing at.
Telfer for City had two good chances but pulled both his efforts wide.
Nicol then went close but his shot went straight at the keeper. Jennings then had an effort from a free kick saved by the keeper.
City were well on top and Haddington briefly threatened but Shearsby was alert in the City goal to keep the home side at bay with two excellent saves.
Whitehead was next to threaten but couldn’t get enough on his shot and the keeper saved comfortably. City then struck the post from a Ryan Foggo free kick with the Haddington keeper stranded.
Haddington had rarely troubled City but five minutes before half time the home side went ahead with a fine finish to Shearsby’s left. 1-0 to Haddington.

City didn’t go in at half time feeling sorry for themselves and responded magnificently in the second half. From kick off City forced a corner.
Nicol and Whitehead both having chances cleared off the line. The equaliser arrived and it was the least City deserved. A great through ball from the energetic Jennings in midfield found Nicol who finished with a good right foot shot past the Haddington keeper. 1-1.
City were straight back on the attack from kick off with Telfer breaking down the right but his cross was blocked. Little then picked the ball up in his own half and after a neat one two with Hogg crossed into the box.
A shot was parried by the Haddington goalkeeper and Telfer was on hand to tap home and put the visitors in front. 1-2 to Edinburgh City.
Ryan Deans was next to get a chance but the Haddington defender recovered before he could get his shot away and a corner was awarded.
Midfielder Rylance was then put through and knocked the ball past the goalkeeper but again a Haddington defender recovered to clear. The clearance fell to Rylance but he couldn’t direct his shot on target.
With only seconds remaining Lawson was booked for dissent but resultant free kick didn’t threaten.
By now deep into time added on Haddington were awarded a free kick which was launched in to the box but again City defended well and the free kick came to nothing.
City hung on to claim victory and to book their place in the next round.
