The game began in tricky conditions with both teams trying to play nice, fast flowing football. Hutchie started on the front foot keeping the ball well, but with little chances resulting from their possession. Tynecastle started seeing more of the ball and with good hold up play from Jake Coultar and the direct qualities from Aaron Wilson began to create a few chances but unfortunately nothing came from these. After the twenty minute mark it looked like a goal would be scored as Hutchie earned themselves a penalty kick after some neat play from Craig Ferrier saw him brought down. Fortunately for Tynecastle the penalty was blazed over the bar from the Hutchie captain Mikey Barfoot. There was nothing to choose between the two sides and as the interval arrived the 0-0 scoreline seemed fair.
Half Time: Hutchison Vale 0-0 Tynecastle
The second half started with Tynecastle applying a lot more pressure on the Hutchie defence. Tynecastle were creating some chances from set pieces, the best of which saw a Jake Coultar corner hit the post. Hutchie also had some joy of their own with Dale Skinner and Craig Ferrier looking threatening, but both Tynie centre backs along with the keeper Sam Robinson kept the ship steady, dealing with any Hutchie attacks expertly. The deadlock was finally broken as Tynecastle changed their shape with Paul Allan coming on to partner Jake Coultar. This was to be an excellent decision as some neat link up play between the duo saw Paul smash an excellent shot past the Hutchie keeper. After this Tynecastle went searching for a second as they saw another attempt hit the woodwork, with another being cleared off the line. In the last few minutes Hutchie pressed for an equaliser but unfortunately for them nothing was to come of their chances.
Full Time: Hutchison Vale 0-1 Tynecastle
