Hutchison Vale went into this match chasing their third Trans World Soccer Scottish Youth FA Cup success in a row but faced a Rossvale FC Thistle side who had been free-scoring themselves in the rounds leading up to the final.
The opening exchanges were typical of a cup final being nervy in nature with both teams attempting to figure each other out.
However it was Hutchison who began to take control with prolonged periods of possession and a high standard of passing.
Ethan Hamilton was central to any attacking movement from Hutchison; however the team in black and yellow were struggling to create any clear cut opportunities.
Rossvale’s attacks at this stage were limited to two long throws and a corner which Hutchison struggled to but eventually cleared.
Rossvale’s Paul King picked up the ball at the half way line, who then played it to Cammy Ralston who turned his man and delivered a quality cross to the back post from the right hand side, but Jack Crumlish was leaning back and could only manage to direct the ball over the Hutchison Vale crossbar.
It seemed the game was still a quiet affair, but the influential Ethan Hamilton picked up the ball and hit an unbelievable half volley from 25 yards past Graeme Milne in the Rossvale goal to make it 1-0 to Hutchison Vale.
Rossvale were also struggling to cope with Kieran Young in the central midfield position; his pace and low centre of gravity were causing problems.
Hutchison Vale were brimming with confidence after Hamilton’s goal and were looking comfortable on the ball.
Fraser Kennedy came into the fray for Rossvale to try and sure up the defence in the right back position.
Ethan Hamilton then took a sore one on his nose and had to receive treatment as Rossvale won a corner.
It was a good out-swinging ball by Paul King but Daniel Crawley couldn’t direct his header on goal as it looped over the bar. Again Rossvale looked their most threatening from set-pieces.
Rossvale eventually turned that set piece threat into a goal, as a free-kick from the left hand side was met by the head of substitute Fraser Kennedy who found himself unmarked in the box and who directed it past Gibb in the Hutchison Vale goal.
Hutchison nearly responded immediately as Cameron Fraser ran through the Rossvale defence but saw his shot well saved by Milne.
However Rossvale were growing into this game and were asking questions of the back four and goalkeeper of Vale, as Paul King from two yards out blasted it over from an impressive diagonal cross.
The nerves had dissipated at this point and the game was end to end with both teams going all-out attack.
From 40 yards out Kieran Young tried a spectacular effort but saw it just go over the bar.
