Musselburgh Windsor Colts

Under-14 Edinburgh Cup
Meadowbank Stadium
13 May 2014

An excellent, and dramatic, game of football played with good sporting attitude between both teams, and hugely entertaining for the folk who turned up to support the teams.

A thunder storm looked to threaten the match before kick off but thankfully it quickly passed and the game went ahead.

Craigroyston got off to a bad start, conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes, but got themselves back into it when Ryan Shanley got his new hair cut onto a free kick from Darren Hunter. The match was leveled when an excellent through ball from Brandon Sives caught the Musselburgh defence flat and Ryan Shanley beat them all for pace and scored his second goal to make it 2-2.

Craigroyston now looked the much stronger team and five minutes before half time Ryan Shanley beat two Musselburgh defenders to the bye line then cut the ball back for Kyle Collins to stroke the ball home from 15 yards. 3-2 Craigie!

Craigie went further ahead before half time when Lewis Watson scored a great goal from just inside the penalty box to make it 4-2 Craigie at half time.

Half Time: Craigroyston 4-2 Musselburgh Windsor Colts

At the start of the second half Musselburgh pushed the Craigie defence to get themselves back into the match, but this left gaps in their defence. Ryan Shanley completed his hat trick 10 minutes in to the second half, when he got away from the Windsor defence and hit a nice shot from just inside the penalty area to put Craigie further ahead, 5-2!

Musselburgh kept plugging away against a strong Craigie defence who didn't look like conceding again until the referee judged the ball was intentionally handled in the box by James Tipton.

A well dispatched penalty gave Jamie Ross no chance in goal and the Craigie lead was cut back to 5-3 with 10 minutes to play.

With the game going into injury time, Nathan Fallon collected the ball just inside the Musselburgh half, strode forward and hit an excellent drive from 30 yards to finish off a great Cup Final for Craigroyston.

Full Time: Craigroyston 6-3 Musselburgh Windsor Colts
