Milton entertained West Calder on league duty this week at Bannockburn. With 4 games remaining, Milton athough top of the league, still have to take the points with 2 other teams not far behind.
This is always a difficult encounter as West Calder are always prepared for a battle. All previous encounters have been won by a single goal.
Milton took an early lead on the 11th min after a free kick from Jordan Brown came back of the post to fall kindly to Adam Beirne to score from close range.
Milton were trying to play football but West Calder were making it difficult with heavy challenges and this dictated the remainder of match with both teams battling.
On the 32nd min the visitors were awarded a penalty after the forward was brought down in the box. This was converted to level the game.
Half Time: Milton 98s 1-1 West Calder.
Milton came out the traps quick with Morgan Reid smashing home a 18yd volley on the 42nd min.
West Calder have always proved difficult opponents and were no different today. Both teams were squandering chances with Milton having more possession and not capitalising.
On the 78th min West Calder were awarded a penalty for another challenge in the box. This time goalkeeper Cammy Ayers became hero after an excellent save from the spot kick.
Then a dramatic finish when Edward McKenna went down the other end and was brought down by the defender to earn Milton a penalty. Robbie Sneddon continued his impressive conversion rate putting Milton 3-1 ahead.
Full Time: Milton 98s 3-1 West Calder
Milton's next league fixture is a week on Tuesday to Bathgate Thistle just before we play Shotts at Almondvale Stadium in the county cup final on the Sunday.
