It took a late goal and two pieces of good fortune for Leith to win the first meeting of these teams this season.
Both teams like to play a passing game and to their credit there was some excellent pieces of football on display. The game moved from end to end and it was Tynecastle that took the lead midway through the first half, following a mix up between the Leith midfield and defence.
Half time Tynecastle 1-0 Leith AC
Leith started the second half brighter and were pushing hard for the equaliser.  A great combination move saw them earn a penalty following a cynical last man challenge from the Tynecastle defender. This saw him enter the referees book, receiving a yellow card. To the anguish of the Leith contingent the spot kick rebounded off the post and was cleared by the Tynecastle defence.
The missed penalty spurred Leith on with the equaliser coming from a long range speculative shot which was saved by the Tynecastle Goalkeeper, however the ball fell at the feet of the Leith forward who coolly slotted the ball into the net to make it 1-1.
With only minutes left in a wide open game both teams pushed for the winner, which came for Leith. A long range shot was again saved by the Tynecastle goalkeeper however the ball rebounded off his defender and into the net.
Both teams put a huge amount into this game with very little in it between the teams. The win for Leith guarantees top spot in the sectional league cup with another semi final to look forward too.
