Milton 99's faced a tough challenge on Sunday when they played away from home to Broxburn Athletic Colts Utd in the West Lothian County Cup quarter finals at Broxburn United sports club. Milton and Broxburn have went head to head twice this season, in the Scottish cup 2nd Round winning away on penalties and losing at home to them in the league.
It proved to be a tense evenly matched game from the outset with the two teams battling it out in mid-field. At 24 minutes into the first half saw Corey Paterson break free of their defence and scoring the opener. Broxburn then equalised to set the game back onto even turf.

The second half began with a flurry of well timed runs from the Milton side with chances created at goal. Corey Paterson was brought down in the box with a penalty given which saw Captain Jack Dick step up to the spot and take Milton into the lead. Broxburn became charged and retaliated with shots at goal and digging in defensively resulting in a real nail-biter for the spectators.
With 5 minutes left till full time Broxburn were awarded a free kick just outside the Milton box. It was executed perfectly with the ball screaming into the top corner and bringing the game back level.

With it being a County Cup quarter final the game went into extra time with both teams defending well from attacks keeping the scorelines even and onto penalties.

Milton opted to strike first from the toss and Declan Wood opened the scoring with decisive shot. Broxburn answered with their first penalty finding the net. Jack Dick would score again with penalty number 2. Milton Keeper Lewis Forbes saved their second penalty by nudging the ball around the post. Ryan Lamette screamed his penalty home leaving Broxburn to miss again by hitting the post. Jack McDonald would take the 4th penalty for Milton with him scoring and Milton being through to the Semi finals as a result. 

The Milton coaches praised the squad and commented that each player had had a fantastic game and fully deserved their victory. Milton will play their semi final at home to Lanark in the coming weeks.
