Bonnyrigg Rose 96's hosted AC Oxgangs on Saturday the 1st of March in the SERYFA Royal Edinburgh Cup. With Bonnyrigg currently top in Division 2 with only one defeat from 14, facing their Division 1 opponents wasn't going to phase them.
The game started off in the manner it was to continue, in a match that could have went either way and with both teams creating chances.
AC Oxgangs hit the post in the first half in the first real threat to either goal. But missed opportunities from Bonnyrigg's Willie White and Euan Casey were just as costly keeping the game at 0-0.
The second half started the same way with both tems pressing for the opening goal. AC Oxgangs had a great chance to take first blood with a penalty. Keeper Connor Easton took down one of their strikers in the box and there was no hesitation by the referee to award the spot-kick. Thankfully Easton made amends by saving the spot kick adding further frustration for Oxgangs.
Full time finished goalless and extra time loomed for Bonnyrigg's second week in a row. That frustration was starting to show and Oxgangs had a man sent off for a push on Marc Moffat in the first half of this period.
The extra man helped Bonnyrigg take control and they took lead through Zander White after a great cross from our left winger Connor Brunton. It means Bonnyrigg 96's progress into the next round.
Full Time (After Extra Time): Bonnyrigg Rose 96's (1) 0-0 (0) AC Oxgangs
