This was the second meeting of the teams this season with Salvesen winning the previous meeting 2-1 in the Craig gowans memorial cup. Loanhead started the game with a very strong wind behind them and with that they dominated the 1st half.
Loanhead striker Paddy Mckelvey had found himself offside four times early on but on the 20th minute he managed to beat the offside trap and was 1v1 on Salvesen keeper Andrew Smith and he cooly slotted home to the keepers right to make it 1-0 Loanhead.
2 minutes later Sam Jones had chance to make it 2-0. He picked up the ball on the halfway line and went on a mazy run beating 5 salvesen players and found himself inside the box with only keeper to beat but Smith made a great save to keep it 1-0.
Loanhead continued to press but couldn't add to there lead.
Half Time: Salvesen CFC 0-1 Loanhead MYFC
Although Salvesen had the wind behind them in the 2nd half, Loanhead were the only side looking like scoring and only bad finishing prevented them doing so.
After another great run from Jones he picked out unmarked Loanhead left back Scott Fairgrieve at back post but headed wide from 4 yards when it was easier to score.
Loanhead keeper Ben Mckenzie never had any saves to note and only had to deal with long high balls which never troubled him. Loanhead kept the pressure on in last 10 mins looking for that killer second goal but poor efforts from Mckelvey and subs Ruairidh Crawford and Ryan Weston kept the score line 1-0 to Loanhead and a well deserved 3 points.
