  • This was expected to be a close match with both teams battling it out at the top end of the table and it did not disappoint.

Kyle Butt had Brox's 1st effort in 7mins, a good strike from 25yds but the keeper saved well. It was Butt again on 12 mins who's cross from the left just dropped over the crossbar.

Brox went ahead in 15mins after their early chances, great play from Fraser Cormack, beating a couple of players before being up-ended in the box for a stone-wall penalty. Cormack picked himself up  and calmly slotted the penalty home with the Airdrie keeper going the wrong way.

Airdrie had their 1st effort on target in 21mins, with Liam Wilson doing well to save & hold.

Brox though were the onces to double their lead on 24mins. Great play between Marcus Millar & Cormack on the edge of the box and Millar fired in a fine strike beating the out-stretched keeper.

Alan Forrester had a great chance in 27mins to increase the advtange. His shot was deflected towards goal but the keeper pulled off a fantastic save to keep it out.

Airdrie pulled a goal back only minutes later when their ever lively No.17 dribbled into the box only for Butt to trip him for another stone-wall penalty, which was blasted straight down the middle as Wilson dived to his right.

Forrester had another decent chance on 34mins from 20yds but again the keeper saved well.

With only moments to go in the first half Broxburn made it 3. Some lovely play from Millar & Cormack set up James McGregor to fire past the keeper from 12yds.

In the second half it was Airdrie who drew first blood. 52 mins in, a corner from the left was accurate and with a free header at the back post they made it 3-2.
Brox regained their 2 goal lead though on 66mins. A great ball wide from Cormack and McGregor raced to the bye-line. His powerful low cross was turned in thanks to an Airdrie defender who was unlucky to put it past his own keeper.
Airdrie were back in it again though then minutes later. A free-kick from 25yds crashed off the cross-bar  and high into the air. It was eventually turned in through a ruck of players as it dropped back into the 6yrd box.
Brox went straight back up the pitch, an inch perfect cross from Cormack and Millar headed narrowly wide from 10yds.
Into injury time and Butt broke down the left and fired in a lovely ball that Declan Kerr narrowly misses. Jamie Henderson then gathered and picks out Millar on the penalty spot, but again his effort goes narrowly past the back post with the keeper beaten.
