Milton this week entertained Murieston at Bannockburn on league business. This was the third meeting between the 2 teams this season and with Milton putting 9 goals past them in the last 2 games and conceding 1, the stats may have looked one way.
Milton started the brighter of the 2 teams but it was Murieston who took the lead when they netted from a header. Milton quickly got themselves together and equalised on the 24th minutes when Abdul Nadeem latched onto the ball 16 yards out and smashed it passed the helpless keeper.
This was a game of battles in all areas and Murieston possibly playing the best they've done all season closing down the Milton players.
Half time: Milton 98’s 1-1 Murieston United
In the second half Milton were having most of the possession but chances either weren't falling or were unable to capitalise.
Muriestons first effort mid way through the second half ended up in the net when a good drive from 22 yards nipped in off the post.
On the 70th minute Milton equalised when they were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. Robbie Sneedon stepped up to score his 6th penalty conversion of the season.
Five minutes from time Murieston were awarded a penalty for a push in the box, which Murieston players didn't expect to get, however they converted the chance and leave Bannockburn with a shock victory. Milton pushed for the equaliser but time ran out.
Full time: Milton 98’s 2-3 Murieston United
Milton suffered their first league defeat of the season, however going 13 league fixtures undefeated was a great achievement, and it being 800 minutes before the first goal was scored against them. We now look forward to bouncing back in our first league fixture after the break.
