U20 SFA Youth Cup - R4
Ibrox Stadium
24 November 2013
Rangers hosted Hibernian in the fourth round of the Scottish FA Youth Cup at Ibrox Stadium. Both sizes were locked on an identical points total in the SPFL Under 20 league and had not yet played each other this season, making it a hard tie to call from the outset.
In the 18th minute the hosts took the lead. Tom Walsh and Barrie McKay combined from a corner kick to set up Charlie Telfer, who picked out the top corner with a superb strike.
Hibs nearly found themselves on level terms, but Callum Crane's effort was saved by Liam Kelly.
Midway through the half, Rangers doubled their advantage. Another fine shot from outside the area saw McKay leave Hibernian goalkeeper Douglas Horne with no chance.
Once again Hibs came close to hitting back, with David Paul seeing his close range effort saved by Kelly. And once again, Rangers were ruthless at making the Edinburgh side pay for their missed chance. Surging down the other end, Walsh was brought down inside the area and Dylan Dykes converted from the spot.

The second half kicked off and it wasn't long before Rangers picked up from where they left off. Walsh was once again involved as he set up Calum Gallagher to head home and put the tie beyond doubt.
From this point onwards it was effectively game over. Hibs continued to press but could not make the breakthrough until the closing stages of the match, reducing the deficit through a header from Paul.
However, Rangers added a fifth goal in the final minute through Danny Stoney to round off an excellent showing by the team managed by Gordon Durie.
Hibs will feel hard done to by the scoreline, but Rangers were comfortable winners on the day.
