Milton this week travelled to a difficult West Calder on a league fixture. Last season Milton had a narrow 1-0 victory on this ground.

The match started with a fast tempo and West Calder putting in physical challenges, which they continued to do throughout the game. Milton took the lead on the 12th min when Craig Hunter hit a shot from 22 yards which was spilled by the goalkeeper and Morgan Reid latched onto the loose ball to fire it home from inside the box.

West Calder did what no other team has done so far this season and scored against Milton in the league after 10 fixtures. The referee awarded them a penalty on the 19th minute when the West Calder player looked like he was fouled in the box, from which they converted. Milton went 819 league minutes without conceding which would be outstanding in any league. Milton dominated after the penalty but couldn't find the net with missed chances and great goalkeeping on show.

The second half started in the same manner with the physical aspects coming from West Calder, but Milton were still controlling the tempo of the game and having a lot of the possession. It wasn't until the 59th min that Milton took the lead after Jordan Brown played the ball into the near post for it to deflect into the net off the West Calder defender.

The remaining 20mins were played in the West Calder half with Adam Beirne, Lewis Greener and Abdul Nadeem crossing from the flanks but the goalkeeper was having one of his best games and Milton couldn't add to their tally.

Players men of the match was Morgan Reid and Jordan Brown.

Cameron Ayres has done well not to concede in the league for 819 mins but credit also has to go the Milton defence who played a big part also. The Milton team put in another excellent performance today and deserved the win and still remain undefeated in the league.

Next week Milton are home to Bathgate Thistle in a top of the table fixture.
