Penicuik were going into this game on the back off picking up their first point of the season last weekend with a hard fought 2-2 draw away to Tranent Blues and were in confident mood.
Head Coach Tommy Walker said "Our performances have deserved more; the boys continue to play some great football and focus on their passing game combined with great movement".
Penicuik started the game on the front foot, taking the game to the home side, the best chances falling to Penicuik, with them hitting the bar from a cracking 25 yard strike, a 2nd pulling off a great save from the Salvie keeper pushing a shot from just outside the box over the bar. The half ended with a super piece of link up play just on 18 where a run into the box after a great  one-two, seen the Salvie keeper pull off another fine save down low to ensure that the sides went in at the break all square.
Half Time: Salvesen 0-0 Penicuik Athletic
Penicuik started the 2nd half just as brightly, and it wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken when Penicuik charged wide down the left with good link up play before the ball was crossed low into the 6 yard box and slotted home. It was no less than Penicuik deserved.
It was then that Salvesen had their best spell of the game and it was their route one football that paid off, Salvie got the ball in behind an otherwise solid back 4 to dispatch the ball beyond the Penicuik keeper.
Penicuik didn’t stop working hard and getting players behind the ball when not in possession and within 10 mins, Penicuiks slick passing game saw them again take the lead.
At 2-1 the game was not beyond Salvie, and it was only with some grit and guile from the Penicuik players that saw them hold onto a really well deserved 3 points.
Tommy Walker said that "it’s great credit to the boys, they have stuck with our coaching philosophy, get the ball down, lift the head, get the ball out from feet nice and early, have everyone comfortable with the  ball & no matter the result, continue to focus on our touch, control, and combine this with great movement"
