The new 15’s squad representing Musselburgh Windsor FC is off to a flying start. The East Lothian club are celebrating their Diamond Jubilee this season and hoping their teams will rise to the occasion.
Team manager John Peden is the man in charge and is assisted by Alan Morton. Their first real boost came when local Wetherspoons manager David Black offered to help fund-raise for the squad. With no football strips to kick-off the season the local side were desperate for backing and they found it in the generosity of the customers of the David Macbeth Moir. A series of fund-raising events saw the Windsor boys kitted out in the new Nike Striker 3 kit just in time for their first home fixture against Longniddry.
In a hotly contested encounter the Musselburgh team secured three points with a narrow 3-2 victory. In their next match came West Lothian outfit Livingston Boys Club in the first round of the Scottish Cup. The match played at Pinkie Playing Fields saw Windsor progress into the draw for the second round with a 3-1 win.
The Windsor squad is: Lewis Smyth, Stuart Robertson, Grant Goodfellow, Jamie Ainslie, David Dudziak, Euan Chalmers, Mark Paxton, Nigel Smith, Mathew Foot, Danny Peden, Callum Osborne, Ross McKenzie, Jamie Ainslie, Jamie Coutts and Alec Benson.
