This was a good natured game played out by both teams. Unfortunately spoiled at times by some poor decisions from the referee.

Broxburn should have had a penalty on ten minutes when James McGregor was clearly taken out by the Thistle keeper but the referee warned the Broxburn player for theatrics, though he didn't get a booking.

Broxburn did go ahead in fourteen minutes, a long ball over the top from Kyle Butt was controlled in the box by Marcus Millar and then blasted past the keeper from eight yards. Broxburn doubled their lead soon after, the ball was lobbed high into the box by McGregor from the touchline with the Thistle keeper failing to deal with it, allowing Millar to score easily from six yards.

Thistle had a good chance to get a goal back in two minutes later; a great pass put Thistle through on the keeper but a last ditch tackle from Butt directed the ball away from goal. A minute later another great pass from Butt picked out Declan Kerr who rounded the keeper but his effort was cleared off the line.

Broxburn went further ahead on the twenty third minute, an inswinging cross by Butt from the left was bulleted past the keeper by Millar from close range.

Thistle should have pulled a goal back half an hour in; a well weighted free kick was headed wide with just the keeper to beat. The Thistle keeper then made a couple of fine saves before Brox went four up in thirty six minutes, Jon-Paul Dickson beating a couple of players and breaking into the box, before toe-poking the ball under the advancing keeper and into the far corner of the net.

Broxburn scored again a minute later, a powerful strike from Dickson was well saved but the rebound was fired into the empty net by McGregor.

The second half turned out to be a bit of a scrappy affair, again being spoilt by some of the referee's baffling decisions. Broxburn went further ahead two minutes in, a corner from the right from McGregor was powerfully headed into the top corner by Millar from eight yards out.

Another great save from the Thistle keeper on forty nine minutes to keep McGregor out but Broxburn were to find the net again in sixty eight minutes, again the Thistle keeper made two great blocks from Andy Drysdale but the ball found the top corner on Drysdale's third attempt.

Thistle were awarded a very soft penalty in seventy two with minutes Dylan Scott seeing yellow, but the Broxburn keeper Liam Wilson guessed right to make a fine save to keep his clean sheet intact.

A minute later Scott received his second yellow and his marching orders for a late tackle on the touch-line. Broxburn wrapped up the scoring in injury time, some great play from McGregor on the right and the cross was turned into the roof of the net by Owen Culliven from close range.
