Edinburgh South Reds were sitting third in the league, only been beaten once all season and were up against Salvesen CFC, currently unbeaten in the league.

The game started with Salvesen on top as expected. Around ten minutes into the game South hit them on the break with a lofted ball from the midfield through to South's star striker Charlie Adams and he finished coolly to give South a 1-0 lead.

Around two minutes later Salvesen kept the pressure on and got space on the wing, passed into Salvesen's number 10 who slot the ball underneath the South goalkeeper.

Most of the first half was still dominated by Salvesen while they kept possession, a lofted ball from Salvesen was headed away by South's defender out to the right back, it got played up to Adams again who calmly slotted the ball through the defenders leg then hit the ball past the Salvesen goalkeeper.

Around ten minutes later South were caught out with a ball from the back into Salvesen's number 10 who saw South keeper, Brian Taylor off his line so hit it over the goalkeeper to finish.

On the verge of half time Salvesen's number 12 had a shot from the edge of the South area but Taylor dived low to save but could only parry as Salvesen's right midfielder, who picked the ball up in the six yard box but South's goalkeeper was up in time to get a vital touch to send it wide.

In the second half Salvesen kept the pressure on and dominated possession but it wasn't until the 77th minute when there was a scramble on the edge of Salvesen's eighteen yard box, the ball fell kindly for Adams once again who put it around the defender then finished again 3-2 south.

In the 90th minute Salvesen fought for the equaliser but the South defence stayed strong once again, Salvesen won a corner with a minute to go it was sliced by South's defender and it fell kindly from three yards onto Salvesen's number 10, Taylor leaped to his left as the ball struck his stomach and was cleared.

South managed to hold on for the win. Salvesen lost their first game of the season and now the title race is back on.
