A snowy Livingston was the venue for this league game which was much anticipated due to the last time the two sides met in the cup which the Rose won in extra time.

Kick off and Linlithgow started the much stronger side, playing brilliant balls through but to no reward. Corners were the Rose's reward for their efforts but they came and went until eventually a slick set piece paid off with a brilliant cross from the corner saw the centre back with a tap in on the volley. 1-0 Linlithgow.

Livingston soon came alive and started to play some quality football but the solid Linlithgow defence kept them at bay. The occasional ball through from the Livingston midfield was easily swept up.

Most of the game was played in the Livingston half with the Rose looking relentless but Livingston had some good attack too one that almost ended in a goal but was well saved by the keeper. Towards the end of the half the Rose midfield seem to switch off slightly and Livingston finished the half strongly but the defence did well to stop them in their tracks.

Half time: Livingston FCBC 0-1 Linlithgow Rose CFC

The second half started much like the first with Linlithgow looking the dominant force. Quickly bagging a goal as well. The winger being released and taking it past the keeper for a tap in at a tight angle. 2-0 Linlithgow.

Livingston now started to get into the game playing some good football and defending well but could not find a way past the defensive players who were linking up well.

Nothing of great interest happened for a while as most of the game was played in midfield and both teams cancelling each other out. Apart from some offside runs and free kicks not many chances came until Livingston scored a brilliant goal from just outside the box, a small deflection takes the shot out of the reach of the keeper.

Linlithgow wanted to extend their lead which came from the captain soon after the Livingston goal. When the match was restarted the Livingston defence made an error which lead to the forwards working one-twos well to put the Rose 4-1 up. Livingston tried and tried and were producing good football at times but Linlithgow were on good form and kept the threats away from goal.

Full time: Livingston FCBC 1-4 Linlithgow Rose CFC
