Cumbernauld Colts vs The Celtic BC - Under 14sCeltic didn't have to wait long to get back on the pitch following Saturday's Regional Cup postponement as they travelled to Broadwood Stadium to take on Cumbernauld Colts in a friendly just 24 hours later. The game was played over 90 minutes, split into three 30 minute thirds.

The 3G pitch ensured the game would beat the weather but Mother Nature still managed to empty an entire pitch in around 30 seconds as the heavens opened and a flurry of hailstones made a short but cold impression on proceedings. Thankfully though, such extreme weather conditions proved to be short-lived and the game went ahead.

The first chance of the game fell to the visitors on 3 minutes when Shaun McCourt plucked Aldo Lynn's lofted ball forward out of the air before stabbing the ball just wide. They didn't need to wait long though to take the lead, doing so 5 minutes later when another ball from Lynn, this time from a corner, fell invitingly on to the head of Alberto Vezza who made no mistake, nodding it past the keeper from close range.

He almost doubled his contribution on 24 minutes when he embarked on a wonderful, mazy run into the box, leaving 3 defenders in his wake before a slightly anti-climatic shot was saved by the keeper before it was eventually cleared. Celtic were almost made to rue that miss within 60 seconds as Colts broke away on the counter attack, bearing down on goal in a 3 v 1 attack but the final ball was over-hit and the threat nullified. From the resulting goal kick, Celtic launched a counter of their own which culminated in the ball being flicked inches wide of the post by Mitchell Strachan following McCourt's low ball to the near post.

The second third started slowly with a few half chances for both teams before the home side found an equaliser on 43 minutes when the forward scooped the ball over Daniel Farrell in the Celtic goal with the inside of his foot. Neither side created many chances during the rest of the third but both keepers were tested late on – first when Dylan McKinnon forced a save from a tight angle before Farrell made a smart save with his knees at the other end to ensure the second third ended on level terms.

Cumbernauld Colts vs The Celtic BC - Under 14sCeltic again started the strongest in the match's second third – the goalkeeper's palms were stung 3 minutes in from Lynn's thumping shot from the edge of the box before they eventually reclaimed the lead on 66 minutes. Strachan was hauled down by the defender as he bore down on goal before dusting himself down to dispatch the resulting penalty low into the keeper's left-hand corner. Three minutes after, Farrell smothered a long-range effort from Colts before they equalised again on 73 minutes: Celtic failed to deal with a free-kick into the box and were unable to clear the ball as it ricocheted around the box before being slammed into the net off the hugely unfortunate Jordan Ridgeway.

The last 15 minutes were played at a frantic pace with both teams going in search of a winner. A glancing header from Strachan which was well saved by the legs of the keeper was, apart from a couple of half chances in and around the box, the closest Celtic came to a 3rd goal before full time arrived with honours even at 2-2.
