First game back from the winter break from the Rose and were wanting a good start to the year, Chapelhall Thistle stood in the way of that but Linlithgow were up for the game.

Whistle blew and the game got underway with some good pressure from the visitors but was picked up quickly from the Rose and the boys in red got playing some football. Ball after ball through, called offside from the referee which got Linlithgow more and more determined. A few shots came in but the Chapelhall keeper easily up to it.

Deadlock broke when a placed, looping shot went right into the top corner in off the bar from around twenty yards. Beautiful finish. 1-0. Chapelhall were putting some good attacks through but the Linlithgow defence were on top form. Again Linlithgow attackers called offside again and again. But were quick to realise how to overcome the high line. A lovely ball through saw the Rose striker tuck the ball away easily. Another goal for the Rose captain. 2-0.

Soon after, a nicely weighted ball through to the Midfielder saw him cheekily lift the ball over the keeper to pick up his first of the season. 3-0. Chapelhall put a ball through but The Linlithgow keeper quick of his line beat the striker to the ball.

Half Time: Linlithgow Rose 3-0 Chapelhall Thistle

Second half started with excitement down at the Chapelhall came early when the Rose keeper failed to control the ball and rolled through but was scrapped away by him and cleared by the Linlithgow defence. The visitors pressed hard and had an attack which forced the keeper into a decent stop. Also the boys in blue got many a corner but could not convert.

Same as first half, offsides a plenty but the Rose strikers decided to sit off and use sheer pace. A moment of brilliance came from the centre of the park, some skill in the box from the midfielder was then squared to the striker but back across to the attacking midfielder, more skill squared back to the captain and driven home from 8 yards. Brilliant. 4-0.

Visitors went all out and produced good football at times, trying to get a consolation goal but Linlithgow’s defence having none of it. Linlithgow once again on the attack but produce a corner. The defence come up to try and bag a goal. The corner floated in, bouncing around in the box like a pinball eventually falls to the right back and drives home from 12 yards into the opposite corner. 5-0 and a good goal for the right back on his debut.

One last attack from the away side from a solo run stopped by the centre half and played long. Free kick to Linlithgow just inside the half saw the Rose defender power the ball into the box, Keeper comes to collect but fails to catch and the ball trundles into the back of the net. 6-0 and the end of the game.

Good start to the year from the Rose and more promising play. Hopefully can get more results and start to climb up the league table. And get prepared for the Semi-Final of the County Cup.
