Loanhead Miners vs Hutchison Vale - Under 16sHutchison Vale Under 16's continued on their way to Airdrie with a 2-0 win over a good Loanhead side. Poltonhall astroturf was once again the venue for the game after last week's fixture was abandoned at half time due to the icy surface.

Both side started brightly, Loanhead with the first real chance, dragging a shot wide from the edge of the box. But Hutchie found the breakthrough midway through the first half after Callum McArthur's corner was swung in from the right, the ball bounced around In the danger zone before Ethan Nicholson layed the ball of to Adam Forrest who smashed the ball home from close range.

After conceding Loanhead came back into the game having several chances, notably from corners. They just couldn't find a way past the Vale's goalkeeper Chris Burt who had a great game.

Shortly after that the away side's Isaac Thomson went of injured after clashing with Loanheads keeper in a 50/50 challenge, Connor Campbell came on to replace him.

On the half hour mark Vale doubled their lead with a superb goal from striker Ross McCann who had sent Hutchie through in the previous round. He found space on the left side of the box unmarked, he then composed himself before curling a beauty home into the top left of the net.

Half Time: Loanhead Miners 0-2 Hutchison Vale

Loanhead Miners vs Hutchison Vale - Under 16sBoth teams started the second half as they ended the first - going at each other in a determined manner. Only one substitute for Hutchie at half time, Connor Lawrie being replaced by Liam Howel.

The second half was less eventful than the first with each team tiring. Loanhead pushed on in search of a goal to bring themselves back into the game but Hutchie Vale's Liam Dunn and Adam Forrest where proving to hard to beat.

Central midfielder Greg Binnie controlled the game well for Vale, sitting just in front of the back four he was able to get the ball out wide early and break down any loose balls in the middle of the park.

It was Binnie who set up Vale's next chance when he lofted the ball over Loanhead's defence to find Howel who had made a clever run in behind. Unfortunately Howel's control let him down and the ball rolled out for a goal kick.

Loanhead changed tactics and tried to attack the visitors from wide positions but Vale's wing backs Jack Philp and Callum McArthur stood firm. Referee Jim Sim had a good game and didn't have much controversy to deal with. There where a couple more chances for each side before the whistle blew.
