Last season's Under 15 County Cup winners Broxburn made the trip to Livingston to face Murieston United at the second round stage of the competition.

The visitors came at their hosts from the off and were to go ahead after 3 minutes. A good break into the box from Dylan Scott saw his cut back turned past the keeper by James McGregor from 6 yards.

Broxburn were attacking well and were forcing United into some last ditch clearances. The visitors double their lead in 17 minutes, a cross from the left was headed clear but only as far as McGregor on the penalty spot and his sweetly struck shot gave the Murie keeper no chance.

Murieston were coming more into the game and struck the bottom of the post with a powerful free-kick. The home side did pull a goal back in 37 minutes, from a Sweeney corner, Brannon Bunce rose highest to head past keeper and defender on the line.

Murie nearly levelled a minute later, a strike crashing of the cross-bar with the keeper beaten.

Half Time: Murieston United 1-2 Broxburn Athletic Colts

Another great half from both teams was on the way, with Broxburn's Jamie Henderson scoring an overhead kick only for the referee to disallow for high feet. As the visitors pushed for a clincher they came close again, Ross Gorman heading against the bar.

Broxburn were made to pay for their missed chances as Murie levelled on 62 minutes. Some fine wing play and cross from Bunce found Steven Galvin unmarked at the back post to head home.

It was end to end stuff as the clock ticked down with both teams having chances before the end of normal time.

Full Time: Murieston United 1-2 Broxburn Athletic Colts

Into extra time and it could have gone either way with Broxburn coming the closest with a Liam Gallagher effort striking the underside of the bar. It appeared to bounce over the line but the referee was to wave away shouts for a goal.

Onto penalties & Broxburn were to hold their nerve for a 5-4 victory.

Final Result: Murieston United 2-2 Broxburn Athletic Colts (AET, Broxburn won 5-4 on penalties)
