The visitors took the lead with only ten minutes on the clock with a well hit shot, but an own goal five minutes later saw Duns back on level terms.

Daniel Pattenden put the home side 2-1 up and that was the way it stayed until the break.

Only a minute after the restart the Edinburgh side levelled the match again but within five minutes of that strike, Regan Graham restored the Dingers' lead once again. It looked as though Duns would hold out for a 3-2 win but in the 90th minute they conceded a penalty which was duly converted and the tie went into extra-time.

Both teams had their chances in the extra half-hour but they were few and far between. In the penalty shootout, Dingers' 'keeper Philip Smith made three excellent saves while Regan Graham, Steven Mitchell and Ciaran Ellison all hit the back of the net to book their place in the next round with a 3-0 shootout win.

Final score: Duns Junior FC 3-3 Salvesen CFC AET. Duns won 3-0 on penalties.
